I. Required Documentation and Samples for Ex Certificate Application

Necessary Submissions:

  • Inspection Contract， in triplicate
  • Explosion-proof related drawings (2 copies)
  • Product enterprise standard/technical specifications (2 copies)
  • Product user manual (2 copies)
  • Factory test report (original)
  • Quality assurance documentation (if applicable, photocopy)
  • Applicant's business license (photocopy)
  • Product samples (see details below)

Detailed Checklist:

  1. Enterprise Credentials

    • Business license copy (initial submission only)
    • Product inspection contract

  2. Quality Assurance Statement

    • Submit a Quality Assurance Statement compliant with GB/T 3836.1-2021.
    • ISO 9000 series certification copy suffices if the enterprise is certified.

  3. Technical Documentation
    All technical documents in duplicate:

    • a) Enterprise Standard/Technical Specifications
      Format-compliant document covering:
      • Performance requirements
      • Explosion-proof parameters (e.g., Ex marking, environmental conditions, test methods)
      • Safety markings
    • b) Product Drawings
      • Intrinsically safe equipment: General assembly, circuit schematics, PCB layouts, silkscreen diagrams, component list, nameplate drawing
      • Non-intrinsically safe equipment: Explosion-proof structure drawings (assembly/part drawings, grounding labels, nameplate). Simplified submissions permitted if general drawings fully define explosion-proof parameters.
    • c) User Manual
      Must include: Technical parameters, Ex marking, diagrams, installation/maintenance guidelines, explosion-proof safety precautions.
    • d) Additional Materials
      • Adhesive/sealed products: Specifications of adhesives/encapsulants and process documentation.
      • Plastic enclosures: Material specifications and performance data.

Sample Requirements:

  • Encapsulation Type (m) / non-sparking (n): 3–5 units (plus pre-encapsulation components for 'm')
  • Transparent parts: 3 glass/spare parts
  • Surface resistance test: Specimen ≥150×60×3mm
  • Special disassembly tools: Provided when applicable
    Additional notes:
    › (1) 5 extra window transparent parts (min. 3); 8 spare plastic lamp lenses (min. 5)
    › (2) Sealed unit: 1 fully sealed + 1 disassembled set
    › (3) Rubber aging test: 3–5 specimens (35×15×6 mm)
    › (4) Plastic insulation test: 3–5 disk samples (φ100×4 mm)

II. Processing Timeline

Standard certification: ≤2 months, subject to:

  • Complete documentation/sample submission
  • Compliance with standards
  • No requirement for specialized complex testing
